Special Sudokus — Variants Beyond the Classic Grid
The classic 9×9 sudoku is only the beginning. Many variants change the grid, the symbols or the rules, while keeping the joy of deductive logic intact. In this section we collect the special variants we're working on for ilsudoku.it.
What's in here
- Roman Numeral Sudoku — Classic 9×9 rules but with I, II, III… instead of digits. An ornate take on the classic.
- Killer Sudoku with Roman Numerals — Killer Sudoku with Roman numerals in both the cells and the cage sums: a double layer of reading.
- Mini Sudoku 4×4 — The smallest version, perfect for beginners and quick rounds.
- Mini Sudoku 6×6 — Compact grid with 2×3 boxes, a halfway point between 4×4 and the classic.
Current status
Roman Numeral Sudoku and Killer Sudoku with Roman Numerals are both already playable — pick a variant, a difficulty, and dive in. The mini 4×4 and mini 6×6 are still in progress; we'll add them as soon as they're ready.
If you'd rather not translate Roman numerals, you can always practice on classic sudoku or study the advanced techniques like X-Wing and Hidden Pairs — the underlying logic stays the same across the special variants too.
